Job Overview
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Specialist Solar PV Designer / CAD Design Engineer who has solar product knowledge or on-site solar installation project experience.
Working as a Specialist Solar PV Designer / CAD Design Engineer you will play an essential role within the Solar PV Design Team. With a core business of wiring new homes, the company has diversified to secure solar PV contracts with new-build developers. With demand continuing to increase rapidly, and the UK target of net zero carbon by 2050, this role has been created to support the Design Team, ensuring the installers and clients have access to accurate solar designs.
As the Specialist Solar PV Designer / CAD Design Engineer youll join a company where there is scope for progression and the opportunity to utilise solar and AutoCAD experience. This role is office based, with sites visits when required.
DUTIES
Your duties as a Specialist Solar PV Designer / CAD Design Engineer will include:
- Take ownership of bespoke jobs, these consist of PV systems that differ from core domestic installations mainly GSE in-roof systems
- Design bespoke and/or specialised systems, including installations utilising flat roof construction, on-roof mounting systems, battery storage systems, apartment blocks, Solshare power division systems
- Work closely with the technical, production and estimating teams to deliver projects to the developer
- Specify suitable mounting kit for various roof types and bespoke systems
- Liaise with, and build relationships with suppliers, as well as researching new products to assist with bespoke installations
- Complete 2D CAD designs, electrical schematics, PVSol reports as well as utilising product specific design tools, such as Van Der Valk Planner
- Attend site visits during the build stage, and prior to installations, to ensure the company can deliver a suitable product to the developer
Candidate Requirements
- AutoCAD, PVSol, VDV planner and electrical knowledge desirable
- Solar product knowledge or on-site experience essential
- Organised with the ability to prioritise own workload
- Exceptional attention to detail when reviewing your own work, or that of others
- Strong IT skills (including Excel)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communicator, with a professional approach and the confidence to liaise with colleagues and customers
- Positive, flexible attitude, with the ability to adapt as priorities change
- Highly motivated and pro-active
