Space Forge is a fast growing advanced materials company. Our goal is to exploit the extreme temperature, microgravity and ultra-high vacuum conditions available in low earth orbit (LEO) to manufacture materials that cannot readily be grown terrestrially. Returning these materials to earth, we aim to revolutionise the semiconductor market and to make space work for humanity. To achieve this we have developed a range of technologies including the world's first returnable and reusable satellite platform, the ForgeStar®.
We are now in a position to bring on board a People Officer who has a desire to be part of our journey to build something unique and special. Someone who has experienced fast company growth and the challenges that come along with it.
What will you do?
Oversee the employee lifecycle and experience of the organisation as a workplace, upholding legal compliance, process efficiency; advocating Space Forge as a rewarding, fair and successful place to be.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Act as a key point of contact for all people related activities providing support, guidance, safeguarding and advice, enabling managers and employees to manage their people resources and related issues effectively
- Onboarding through to offboarding - managing all employee lifecycle processes from recruitment to post resignation, ensuring an effective, fair, and positive employee experience
- Guiding and supporting management on employee relations, learning and development, and performance management related issues
- In collaboration with the Executive team, improvement and implementation of the people related policies in line with the company strategy
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, files and reports, including responsibility for maintaining personnel records, ensuring compliance with employment and data protection legislation
- Any other duties as assigned from time to time, by your direct line manager or by senior management, that are within the remit of the role of People Officer
The range of skills we are looking for:
Technical skills:
- CIPD level 5 (candidates working towards this will be considered)
- Demonstrated experience of supporting people managers with their employee relations, learning and development, and performance management related issues
- Proven experience of implementing people policies and procedures, ideally in a deep tech business
- Working knowledge of UK employment law and its application in all aspects of employment and employee relations
- Experience of developing initiatives for a 100+ people sized organisation
Soft skills:
- Exceptional communication with teams working both on-site and remote, as well as key stakeholders
- Resilient and adaptable to a high speed change environment
- Experience in working with neurodiverse colleagues
- Demonstrated experience with employee relations, including disciplinary and people improvement

Salary range: £38,000 to £45,000 per annum, depending on knowledge, experience and skills.
