Job Description:
Are you a forward-thinking Data and AI/ML Engineer with a “curiosity-driven” approach and expertise in Python and Generative AI (GenAI), passionate about leveraging data to drive meaningful business impact? We want to hear from you!
In this role, you’ll play a critical part in developing AI-driven solutions and integrating them into our business processes to enhance growth and operational efficiency. You'll design and build data-driven products, uncover insights from complex datasets, and propose innovative solutions to strategic challenges.
With a strong analytical mindset, proficiency in data tools, and a passion for machine learning and research, you’ll directly influence decision-making and foster innovation across the organisation.
Key Outline Duties:
The list below is not exhaustive and therefore not limited to the below:
- Gain an understanding of the business processes (back of house and client-face) to identify where artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies can add value.
- Assess current data infrastructure, identify challenges, and guide the organisation in structuring, cleaning, and organising data to ensure its AI-ready.
- Develop API connectors and pipelines to merge datasets from different platforms for unified, meaningful insights, ensuring consistency and accessibility.
- Ensure successful end-to-end implementation of AI solutions, from research and development to model deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement.
- Develop and implement data pipelines and AI models using Python and related frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.).
- Design, build, and deploy AI tools to automate repetitive tasks and optimise workflows, enhancing business processes and operational efficiency for both internal (back of house) and client-facing teams.
- Translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of AI systems in production.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI and GenAI technologies, incorporating them into innovative projects.
- Preprocess structured and unstructured datasets for analysis.
- Analyse extensive datasets to identify patterns and trends.
- Develop predictive models and implement machine learning algorithms.
- Work collboratively with the AI Strategy Lead to define the AI roadmap for 2025 and beyond.
Technical & Non-Technical Skills Required:
- Python (for AI/ML development, data manipulation, and automation).
- SQL (for database management and querying).
- Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn for machine learning model development.
- Familiarity with Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools like Hugging Face, spaCy or NLTK.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON data formats, and tools like Apache Airflow, Fivetran, or Alteryx would be beneficial.
- Power BI or Tableau for data visualisation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure AI tools and Cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of MLOps for managing the machine learning lifecycle (versioning, monitoring, etc.).
- Solid understanding of statistics, data analysis, and modelling techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex data in actionable formats.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex datasets.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt to changing requirements and think creatively when solving problems.
- Familiarity with the construction industry (specifically Building Services)
- Understanding of AI-related compliance, ethical considerations, and regulatory frameworks in the UK and Europe, including GDPR and AI governance guidelines, is highly desirable.
Preferred Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or related field; a Master’s degree in Data Science or another quantitative discipline is preferred.
- Internships, personal projects, or contributions to open-source AI tools would be a plus.
- Willingness to learn and grow into the role.
