The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Business Development & Marketing Director to lead our business development and marketing strategies, playing a key role in elevating Stone King's brand and driving impactful client engagement. This executive position offers the opportunity to shape our firm's growth, enhance market presence, and align marketing initiatives with our strategic vision.
This opportunity comes at an exciting stage in our development where we are planning our strategy for the next five years and are looking for a strong Business Development and Marketing leader to help shape our future and deliver our shared vision.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the new Director of Business Development & Marketing will lead and execute the firm's marketing strategies.
The new Director will head up a team of Business Development and Marketing professionals based nationally, and ensure the team is aligned to take the firm into its next step in growth.
The Role
- Work with the CEO, Sector and Practice heads to deliver a 3-5-year business plan for the firm
- Create the Marketing and BD strategy of the firm to deliver the objectives and revenue targets outlined in the full business plan
- Carry out an assessment of the firm's brand position and level of brand recognition in the market. Clearly define our brand values and provide clarity on the PR and internal messaging required to deliver our key brand messages to the market and our people
- Work with Sector leads to identify the key criteria that help us develop a focussed pipeline of opportunities for each sector
- Work with Practice Heads to develop and package their offering to dovetail with sector plans
- Apply and plan for the appropriate mix of marketing tools and technologies to deliver each sector and practice business development plan
- Review the firm's CRM systems and processes to ensure that the right client information is collected and shared with our client teams/lawyers
- Implement a client feedback programme, engaging both clients and lawyers in the process
- Determine criteria for Key Client status and develop a value driven package for the resulting key clients
- Work with HR to develop an internal communications strategy
- Work with HR to carry out a Marketing and BD skills audit and review of team structure to ensure the team is optimised to deliver on the firms Marketing & BD strategy. Create the appropriate team and individual training and development plans
- Work with the CEO, HRD and Executive Board to develop and clearly define the firm's core values and build a programme which will embed these within the firm, our people and the work we do
- Ensure the firm's commitment to environmental, social and governance considerations (ESG) is reflected in our BD and Marketing activity
- Implement clear Management Information systems that allow the firm to clearly track business development opportunities through to conversion into revenue, as well as providing clarity on ROI against marketing spend
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience in a senior marketing role within the legal or professional services sector
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic marketing and business development plans
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
- In-depth knowledge of digital marketing platforms and analytics, as well as experience with digital transformation projects and understanding of associated legal considerations
- Commitment to sustainability and familiarity with ESG principles
Desirable
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional qualification is advantageous
