The Purpose
The Head of Facilities & Maintenance will oversee all aspects of the club's facilities management, ensuring that the stadium and all associated onsite infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards.
This role is critical for delivering a safe, efficient, and world-class environment for players, staff, and fans with a strong blend of strategic leadership, technical expertise, and hands-on management experience
The Role
- Oversee and coordinate stadium preparation for match days and events, ensuring a world-class experience.
- Manage daily operations across all club facilities, focusing on maintenance and functionality.
- Develop and execute maintenance schedules for safety, efficiency, and visual appeal.
- Oversee utilities and energy management for cost-effectiveness and sustainability.
- Lead refurbishment and improvement projects aligned with club standards and long-term goals.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, and environmental regulations through inspections and audits.
- Handle reactive and planned maintenance efficiently to minimise disruptions.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues.
- Supervise and lead a diverse team of maintenance and trade professionals.
- Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with the matchday operations team to ensure facilities are event-ready.
- Coordinate with external contractors for matchday requirements such as broadcasting and rigging.
- Manage the facilities and maintenance budget, optimising resources and cost control.
- Negotiate and oversee contracts with vendors and service providers.
- Monitor expenditure to ensure financial transparency and alignment with club objectives.
- Implement sustainable practices to reduce the club’s carbon footprint.
- Stay updated on industry trends in sustainable facility management.
- Oversee contractor operations and issue work permits for on-site maintenance.
- Ensure wage, stock, and waste control align with budgetary requirements.
- Support the Head of Regulatory Services with health and safety documentation and risk assessments.
- Work closely with Head of Regulatory Services to ensure that all property and operational activity meets current legislation and Health & Safety requirements
The Person:
- Proven ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with experience working with contractors, UEFA, the Premier League, and local authorities.
- Extensive experience in facilities management, ideally in sports or large venues.
- Effective leadership and team management skills to inspire and guide staff.
- Strong technical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Deep understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Experience in budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation.
- Skilled in contractor management, ensuring efficient and high-quality project completion.
- Experience in broadcasting is advantageous.
