We are looking for a C# Software Developer to become part of our Insurance and Finance specialized development team at Vaisala Xweather in Harpenden, UK. What’s Your Role?
At Vaisala Xweather, we have built the world’s largest proprietary database of cleaned weather variables. Our advanced system processes data from over 200 sources, seamlessly ingesting more than 100,000 files daily.
As part of our team of six developers, formerly part of the Speedwell Climate group and now integrated into Vaisala Xweather, your role will be to oversee and optimize all data feeds, ensuring that information is delivered to our database with accuracy and efficiency.
You will manage and improve the ingestion and processing of all data imports, contributing to our mission of transforming weather data into actionable insights for the climate risk transfer market.
What Will You Bring?
We’re looking for someone who combines technical expertise, attention to detail, and a passion for bridging weather data with financial applications. In this role, you’ll work with large and complex data sets, requiring strong systematic and problem-solving abilities, precision in code quality, testing, and documentation, as well as a collaborative mindset. You should also be eager to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Key skills and experience include:
- C# and .NET 8 (at least two years of professional experience)
- Familiarity with data import methods such as APIs, FTPs, web scraping, and file systems
- Knowledge of authentication protocols (OAuth, JWT, etc.)
- Proficiency in SQL
- Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
- Proven ability to write unit, integration, and performance tests
Bonus skills:
- Strong numeracy
- Interest or experience in meteorology
- Proficiency in English is required, and knowledge of additional languages would be a plus.
