Sovereign House GH is seeking a passionate Digital Inclusion Officer to help us continue empowering communities in Greater Manchester through digital literacy.
The Digital Inclusion Officer will play a pivotal role in expanding and enhancing our digital inclusion initiatives, particularly the Computer Learning Programme. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to address digital poverty, managing digital literacy training programmes, and ensuring that our beneficiaries have access to the tools and skills they need to thrive in a digital world. Your efforts will play a huge role in support of empowering our beneficiaries with the essential skills needed to succeed in today’s digital landscape.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital education, community engagement, and project management, with a passion for social impact and empowering underserved communities.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Development and Delivery:
- Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of the Computer Learning Programme (CLP) and other digital inclusion initiatives.
- Develop tailored digital literacy curricula for adults, ensuring alignment with local needs and global digital standards.
- Oversee the delivery of training sessions, workshops, and resources to beneficiaries.
Community Engagement and Partnership Building:
- Work closely with local communities in Salford, Bury and other target areas to identify digital inclusion needs and barriers.
- Build and maintain partnerships with community organisations, and technology providers to enhance programme reach and impact.
- Advocate for digital inclusion and raise awareness of the importance of digital literacy.
Resource Management:
- Source and manage digital equipment, software, and learning materials for programme participants.
- Ensure the maintenance and sustainability of digital resources, including computers, internet access, and other tools.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Track and report on the progress and impact of digital inclusion initiatives, using data to inform improvements.
- Collect feedback from beneficiaries and stakeholders to ensure programmes remain relevant and effective.
Capacity Building:
- Train and support volunteers, staff, and local partners in delivering digital literacy programmes.
- Empower beneficiaries to become digital champions within their communities.
Fundraising and Advocacy:
- Support fundraising efforts by contributing to grant applications and donor reports related to digital inclusion projects.
- Represent the charity at events, conferences, and meetings to promote our digital inclusion work.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Proven experience in digital education, ICT for development, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of digital literacy, digital poverty, and the digital divide.
- Experience in programme management, including planning, delivery, and evaluation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Cultural sensitivity and experience working with disadvantaged communities, particularly in low-resource settings.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, digital learning tools, and basic IT troubleshooting.
- AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification or equivalent knowledge of cloud computing concepts.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages)
Desirable:
- Experience working in the charity or non-profit sector.
- Knowledge of the United Kingdom context and local community dynamics.
- Familiarity with e-learning platforms and digital skills frameworks (e.g., Google Classroom, Microsoft Learn, Microsoft Education).
- Experience in fundraising, grant writing, or donor reporting
