Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team in Cardiff, United Kingdom. As a vital member of our kitchen staff, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment while supporting our culinary team in food preparation and service.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas to maintain high standards of hygiene
- Assist in basic food preparation tasks, such as washing and chopping vegetables
- Operate dishwashing equipment and handle manual dishwashing when necessary
- Properly store kitchen supplies and ingredients, ensuring proper rotation and organization
- Support the culinary team during food service periods and special events
- Maintain cleanliness of waste disposal areas and manage garbage removal
- Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper inventory management
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food safety guidelines
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during peak hours
- Perform regular deep cleaning tasks as scheduled
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar role within the food service industry
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and food hygiene practices
- Basic food handling and hygiene certification
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication abilities and team player mentality
- Customer-focused attitude with a friendly and enthusiastic demeanor
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs)
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible approach to work
- Time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Basic understanding of kitchen operations and culinary terminology
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
