Senior Electrical Design Engineer - £85,000 + Bonus – Hybrid

Our client, a top-tier contractor known for their cutting edge work in utility scale Solar, BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), and Onshore Wind projects, is on the hunt for a talented Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team!
You’ll take charge of planning and delivering the EPC and/or ICP components for large-scale solar PV and BESS projects. Your mission as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer? Ensuring everything runs like clockwork, from design to execution, all while sticking to budget, schedule, and top-notch quality standards.

Responsibilities
- As the Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will lead electrical engineering design development, including layouts, SLDs, and specs.
- Prepare and manage EPC/ICP Sub-Contractor scopes, tender evaluations, and contracts.
- Provide technical input during construction (contractor management, design reviews, progress monitoring).
- Ensure risk mitigation in commercial agreements and contracts.
- Oversee multiple renewable energy projects, meeting time and budget goals.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across departments.
- Prepare and review technical reports.
- Support procurement of key electrical equipment.
- Review Sub-Contractor designs for compliance.
- Conduct site visits for new and ongoing projects.
- Drive business development efforts alongside the BD team.
- Assist Bid Team with tender preparation.
- As the Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will have to overview all projects the junior team work on.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Electrical Design Engineer.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Worked with up to 132kV.
- Experienced with Electrical Balance of Plant design.
- Knowledge of Civil and Mechanical design systems.
- Strong understanding of UK Grid Code.
Desirables
- Experienced with Electrical Modelling software's - DigSilent, PSCAD or similar.
- Knowledge of UK design standards.
- Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
