We're looking for a Environmental Manager to join our Construction team based in Northern England and Scotland
Location: Flexible across Northern England and Scotland Region
Contract: Permanent – Full Time (Can offer Part Time Working also)
Responsibilities
We are looking to recruit an Environmental Manager who can support our teams to deliver great sustainability outcomes now as well as help us to shape our sustainability strategy moving forwards. Experienced in key themes such as transition to net zero carbon, delivering a circular economy and added social value, this role will be instrumental in delivering Kiers purpose ‘to sustainably deliver infrastructure which is vital to the UK'.
As an Environmental Manager you will provide though leadership and technical advice from the preconstruction through to construction phases across our sites. Key focus areas include reduction of our scope 1,2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions and a focus on whole life carbon, designing out waste and transitioning to a circular economy plus support for social value and investment. Advising on relevant consents, managing audits and incident investigations will be a key part of the role ensuring Legal Compliance and prevention of pollution.
Collaboration is a key skill as the role requires internally managing a team across a large geographical area and cocreating solutions with other key disciplines within the region as well with the wider Kier Construction Sustainability team. Ensure that Lessons Learnt are incorporated into the Integrated Management System. Externally the role will work with wider industry groups, clients and other stakeholders to not only deliver against existing sustainability requirements but also explore the art of the possible.
Who are we looking for?
- Previous relevant experience
- Relevant degree (or working towards)/diploma in an environmental, sustainability or related equivalent.
- Chartered Membership (or working towards it) of a relevant professional body (e.g. IEMA or equivalent)
- Experience of working with Regulators across the UK and an Environmental Legislation across the UK (England, Scotland, Wales)
- Skilled in data trend analysis and translating these into recommendations and solutions.
- Proven experience in delivering a Sustainability Action Plan
- Understanding of the carbon reduction agenda including scope 1,2,3 emissions.
- Experience in the waste hierarchy and circular economy principals
- Social value, modern slavery, D&I experience desirable.
- Expert in compliance including a good working knowledge of environmental legislation and ISO14001.
- Leads with trust; engages with and inspires peers through honesty and integrity.
- Problem solver who confidently identifies and articulates problems, presenting effective solutions and setting clear expectations and defined outcomes for others.
- Delivery of continuous improvement by driving change through behaviours and innovations
- Experience of leading and managing a team of people across a region(s). mentoring and developing them
