Role: Microbiology Lab Technician

Location: Kitt Green, Wigan

Purpose Of Role

You will be responsible for the testing of raw materials, intermediates and finished goods to ensure compliance with approved food safety standards and legislation, as well as ensuring the outstanding maintenance of our lab equipment.

You will also lead the compliance, maintenance, and extension of UKAS ISO 17025 accreditation standards, as well as collaborating and delivering flexibility across the FSQ department.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Carry out testing to documented methods;
  • Register samples on LIMS with the appropriate tests;
  • Review ingredient results against specification and release via SAP;
  • Method Development and Validation including troubleshooting;
  • Arrange service and calibration visits and support service / calibration engineers during visits;
  • Participate in proficiency and certified material control projects;
  • Raise CAR / PARs as the need arises, agree actions to safeguard the analysis and prevent reoccurrence. Ensure actions are completed;
  • Training other staff in methods and procedures;
  • Plan and prioritise own workload depending upon customer needs;
  • Participate in internal and external audits;
  • Control of documents and records;
  • Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.
