Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in petroleum engineering or a closely related study; post graduate qualification in business is an advantage
  • Strong background in project management and/or leading operational improvement projects
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • 5+ years of experience in the energy industry with a focus on hydrogen, hydrogen business building, carbon capture, process engineering, reservoir engineering, and/or energy efficiency topics
  • Strong business insight, impressive career development, and outstanding performance track record

What You'll Do

You will support our client teams by providing them with energy-specific expertise, directly contributing to increasing the value of energy assets and turning around operational performance.

As a specialist in this field, you will be a part of McKinsey's renowned advisory, which comprises specialized expertise in reservoir/well management, drilling, production optimization, onshore/offshore operations, and energy transition/decarbonization. You will be part of a passionate team that enables PAX to integrate with the existing asset team to address current business and performance challenges, to maximize and realize the intrinsic value of the asset, while improving capabilities and sustaining change.

In addition to work as an advisor, you will participate in, or at times lead, key internal knowledge-building initiatives as well as conferences and client workshops.

Who You'll Work With

You will be based out of our London office and will be part of the Petroleum Asset eXcellence (PAX) unit within McKinsey's Oil & Gas practice.

You will work as a team member for specific client energy operations, and transformation and improvement programs with direct contact to key members of client organizations. You will develop and provide recommendations based on the findings and support and coach clients in driving implementation and change.

You will work with energy companies on their full spectrum of activities, from capturing the full potential of their upstream reserves and assets, to supporting in building their new businesses (e.g., CCUS, hydrogen) in the energy transition.
